Nerves 03:52
the sun spilled pavement back home waiting miss the thought of you never letting go a left arm raised into my clavicle breaking open every time im home cos you know the words you said to me (over time) a clearer window into why (extend your line) the finer lines under your name signal will you still remember me will you still remember me the same intentions rotting in your head fighting boredom with my leg up on the armrest the gravel walkway sinking every step carry on, carry on monotony is dead cos you know the words you said to me (over time) a clearer window into why (extend your line) the finer lines under your name signal will you still remember me will you still remember me and it's a painful reminder to know you interlock my dreams there's something communally home sick with this city is it worse to feel an introspection blonded over by your hair can I kindly care but distance myself from the scenery it burns you must have hit between my nerves i’m getting older and it hurts let me know if it's deserved you must have hit between my nerves

about

Lyrically it refers to the pangs of being homesick and missing interactions you used to have and generally how simple everything used to be. However, in the same brush, it deals with the realisation that people and situations change over time and so do you. It was written from an existential place of worry, I just felt extremely irrelevant and everything that used to define my identity had worn away. It tackles the longing to be remembered and perceived in a certain way, and the realisation that this is such an unhealthy way to live. I guess if there’s a main takeaway I would want from Nerves, it’s that you should always try to live through an internal locus of evaluation. From personal experience, if your internal dialogue is shaped around people having to think of you in a particular light, this can be a pathway to low self-esteem.
